Addiction and Recovery
Addiction is a complex, chronic condition that affects the brain and behavior. Recovery is possible — and with the right support, people can and do heal.
Addiction involves compulsive engagement with a substance or behavior despite harmful consequences. It is not a moral failing or a lack of willpower — it is a medical condition with psychological, social, and biological roots.
Common signs of addiction include loss of control over use, continued use despite negative consequences, withdrawal symptoms, increasing tolerance, and neglect of responsibilities and relationships.
Recovery is a deeply personal journey. Therapy can help uncover the underlying emotional pain, trauma, or mental health conditions that fuel addictive behavior. Evidence-based approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and 12-step facilitation.
You do not have to face this alone. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. With compassionate support and the right tools, lasting recovery is within reach.
